An innovative regional development portal, or a basic interactive tool for providing statistical and analytical tools, as well as other useful information about the Košice Region (KSK), is the main theme of the upcoming hackathon. For the first time, a hackathon from the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization will be held in Košice. The event, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, will take place on September 23 and 24 at the Kulturpark Košice as part of the SlovakiaTech 2024 program.
The eleventh hackathon organized as a part of the Hacknime.to project once again offers an opportunity for young talented individuals to participate in the digitalization of public administration and bring innovation to the lives of Slovak citizens. A financial reward totaling up to 6,000 € is prepared for the top three winning teams.
“Come design an innovative development portal for the Košice Region to provide useful information for investors and regional development organizations” – this is the challenge that teams of IT specialists, designers, product managers, and modern technology enthusiasts will tackle during the hackathon titled Regional Development Portal.
Improving Decision-Making Processes through Effective Data Analysis
The need to create an interactive tool to be part of decision-making processes and data processing arose in KSK based on project preparations. The development of IT technologies has led to a significant increase in the amount of data that KSK office employees must handle, causing delays in evaluating or resolving individual issues. Many analyses and scenario evaluations represent a time-consuming and financially demanding process, but when properly set up, they also have the potential to open new possibilities. Improvements are expected mainly in areas such as the user experience when analyzing investment potential in the region, access to comprehensive sectoral information and data, and access to the region’s strategic documents.
Young talents can unleash their potential again
The Hacknime.to project attracts IT enthusiasts from all over Slovakia, and it regularly sees participation from experienced professionals as well as student teams. The power of young talents and well-composed teams was fully demonstrated during previous events, where student teams, including those participating in the project for the first time, ranked among the winners.
The registration link is available on the hackathon’s Regional Development Portal website, and applications can be submitted until September 21 or until the event capacity is reached.
