It all started at high school. Well, maybe even earlier. “As a kid, I used the have my computer broken all the time. And I had to learn how to repair it,” Ahmed begins his story with a smile on his face.
"Once I needed a 'something' to create .exe files. A friend provided me with VisualBasic. It really did generate .exe files, but there was so much more to it with all the code in the background."
And so the passion began.
Switching certainty for an adventure
As it happens in such cases, the passion transformed into the real thing, and Ahmed took on many new projects.
When a university came into consideration, he decided to give a try. It was sort of expected.
It did not work out the way he'd hoped for. It worked out much better in the end. Ahmed landed on the job at an established IT company and started gaining experience and skills and got used to the sweet sound of regular salary notification.
After several years, the time for a change has come, and freevision was founded in 2012 by Ahmed and his two friends.
“At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I missed the stable money from the times of full-time employment. It was a bit scary. But it took off, and we managed.”
On the edge of igniting the growth
Initially, there were just three of them working hard on their first two clients.
“The transition phase was a bit difficult – leaving work in the evening and coming to my own company afterward. We needed to make a decision whether to take on another employee and start the company's growth, or not.”
Being on the verge of too much work yet too much uncertainty to employ a new colleague, is a tough milestone in the life of any business. Freevision managed to take the step and currently employs ten engineers in the backend, frontend, and .NET teams.
“It was difficult for me to let some things go and delegate. I know the quality is equally good, yet I also know what I'd have done differently. But now there is more time for family and business development.”
Love at second sight
With more people, the need for new space stepped in. As they knew it wouldn’t be an easy decision-making process, the founders sat down and planned it well.
“We had about 15 spaces in consideration and have developed a system to evaluate each of them based on the factors we preferred. We were giving points to all the opportunities,” Ahmed looks back.
Did Campus Campus score a hundred on the first try?
"Not at all. I visited Campus when it was in the state of construction and saw only visualizations. It did not convince me that much,” Ahmed describes his first thoughts about the City.
Luckily, the alternative was an office space they'd have needed to furnish and design themselves, and it lacked the social element. So they took a second look.
Mission Overdeliver: accomplished
The goal was to give freevision teams the opportunity to meet new faces, get to know other people, interact with them and learn something new at the events.
And Campus delivered. Or, as Ahmed puts it, it has “overdelivered.”
“I must say I was astonished by the atmosphere and the events here,” he emphasizes. "It blew my mind how many and how quality events take place in the venue. And the community is great. Even though everyone has a lot on their plates, nobody runs about here, and everyone stops by to say hi.”
